The Journey Back This story is inspired by the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. Orpheus was a musician, known for his beautiful songs. When his wife, Eurydice, died, his heart broke. He decided to bring her back from the land of the dead. He traveled to the Underworld, where the dead lived. The journey was dark and scary, but Orpheus did not stop. When he reached the gates of the Underworld, he played his lyre. His music was so beautiful that the gatekeeper, a fierce three-headed dog, let him pass. Orpheus kept walking until he stood before Hades, the king of the dead, and his wife, Persephone.“I have come for Eurydice,” Orpheus said. “Please, let her return with me to the world above.”Hades frowned, but Persephone looked kindly at Orpheus. She whispered to Hades, and finally, Hades said, “She can go with you, but there is one rule. You must not look back at her until you both are out of the Underworld.
